Kieran First picked up the guitar at age nine and since then hasn’t looked back. His thirst for musical knowledge has driven him to explore a wide range of genre’s ranging from blues and pop to jazz and classical.
Kieran is by definition a true eclectic when it comes to music. Sighting Wes Montgomery, Peter Green and Soulive as major influences all of which are present in his playing and writing which is abundant in diversity and variety.
After his schooling, Kieran’s attention turned to acquiring further knowledge in particular knowledge of the guitar in jazz. having applied to several conservatoires Kieran was awarded a place on the Undergraduate Jazz Programme at the world famous Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having completed his undergraduate certificate Kieran was then accepted onto the Masters Programme for Jazz at The Guildhall .
Whilst In attendance at the Guildhall Kieran received both classical and jazz guitar instruction studying under professors such as Phil Robson, John Parracelli, Stuart Hall, Colin Oxley and Robert Brightmore. During his six years of study Kieran attended and participated in a number of workshops , Led by some the most influential names in Jazz( John Scofield, Marcus Roberts, Wynton Marsallis, Marcus Miller, Christian McBride and Gretchen Parlato .
As well as being a full time educator Kieran is a regular performing artist and can be frequently found playing across the Manchester, Stoke and Birmingham music scenes.
